Kitesurfing Events 2019

While 2018 saw some great events that rocked the kitesurfing world, this year’s events itinerary is set to be even bigger and promises some huge happenings that you won’t want to miss. From the Red Bull King of the Air competition at the end of this month to the Cabarete Kite Festival 2019 in July, here are just a few of this year’s kitesurfing UK and international events to get you revved up for the year ahead:

Red Bull King of the Air 2019

Running from the 26th January until 10th February, the Red Bull King of the Air is one of this year’s earliest events and promises an exciting start to 2019 for all in the kitesurfing community. Taking place on Kite Beach in Blouberg, Cape Town, this annual contest sees kitesurfing athletes from across the globe go head to head over several days to showcase some of the world’s most intense and skilful big air riding – think flips, mega loops and some serious shredding!

Along with last year’s top eight contestants including F-One rider Liam Whaley, ten new riders have also been selected from the Red Bull King of the Air 2019 online video and wildcard entries to compete for the title, which is currently held by defending champion Kevin Langeree. Amongst the newcomers is Aurelien Petreau, another member of the F-One clan, making this year’s Red Bull King of the Air certainly one to watch! Kitesurfing Armada Festival 2019

Taking place from the 21st June to the 23rd June at one of the UK’s top kitesurfing hotspots, Hayling Island, this year’s Kitesurfing Armada Festival is set the be one of the highlights of the year. Offering a jam-packed weekend itinerary brimming with enticing kitesurfing events as well as family activities, live music and quality food and drink, this famous festival caters for kitesurfers of all abilities, whether you’re a solo beginner or a family of professionals.

From beginner taster sessions and big air competitions to world record attempts and live demos from some of the water sport’s biggest names, there’s so much to see and do during this iconic weekend – no wonder it’s been voted Best UK Kitesurfing Event for three years running! Head to Hayling Island with your fellow riders this summer for a chilled and memorable weekend.

Jeep Tarifa Pro 2019

Playing host to the Kite-Surf World Tour with the Kiteboarding World Tour simultaneously made the Jeep Tarifa Pro 2018 one of the most successful kitesurfing events of the year. Consequently, riders in search of an enthralling, action-packed event to enjoy this summer should undoubtedly head to the Jeep Tarifa Pro 2019, which is set to be bigger and better than ever before!

Returning for its sixth year, this multifaceted event will take place from the 26th June to 30th June in Europe’s kitesurfing capital, Tarifa, and welcomes kitesurfing champions and their fans from all over the world to witness some fantastic riding and fierce competition in the glorious Spanish sunshine. With a notoriously strong mix of the renowned Levante and Poniente winds along with some seriously choppy wave conditions, riders are sure to be put through their paces throughout this five-day event. However, the opportunity to stomp some show-stopping tricks whilst competing for these championship titles far outweighs the prospect of facing some tricky riding!

Cabarete Kite Festival 2019

Set on the idyllic shores on the Dominican Republic, the Cabarete Kite Festival 2019 is a week-long festival that celebrates kitesurfing in all its glory along with a selection of other water sports as well as ocean awareness and entrepreneurship. This year, the iconic festival will run from July 22nd until July 29th and invites riders from all over the globe to enjoy some epic kitesurfing action in a truly tropical paradise.

Throughout the week, a selection of special guests and world-renowned riders will be providing talks on several issues such as health, wellbeing and ocean conservation along with professional clinics and workshops to help festival-goers enhance their kitesurfing skills. As if this wasn’t enough, the opportunity to witness the ultimate kitesurfing weekend showdown is also on offer; watch as some of the world’s biggest kitesurfing champions battle it out, tackling some ferocious winds and waves to pull off some amazing tricks!
