Located to the East of the county, Batson Creek can be found just to the right of Salcombe harbour and is a popular and picturesque spot frequented by paddleboard enthusiasts of all abilities. Not only is the calm water the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing glide watching the world go by, but the surrounding scenery also makes this charming creek one of the best places to sneak off to for a morning, afternoon or even day of paddleboarding. Unbeknown to many, Ilfracombe is a fantastic paddleboarding location as well as one of North Devon’s most up-and-coming seaside hotspots. Boasting a breath-taking backdrop of rocky headlands and moorland views, this coastal location is the ideal place to spend a day exploring on your board, with beautiful bays, hidden coves and a meandering shoreline all waiting to be discovered. Plus, with many of these areas being sheltered, the wind and wave conditions are usually calm, making it great for beginner’s who are new to the water sport!
Situated on the gorgeous North Devon coastline, Saunton Sands beach is a haven for all water sports lovers. However, in recent years, it has become a prime location for paddleboarding in particular. Offering fantastic wind and wave conditions along a three-mile stretch of soft golden sand, this idyllic beach is a must for those looking to enjoy a fulfilling SUP session out on the waves. Head down at low tide to catch the North Westerly winds and make the most of the clean swell at Saunton Down.
South Milton Sands
An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, South Milton Sands is a picture-perfect destination that every paddleboarder will love. Not only is this sheltered bay home to some of the calmest waters in the South West, but it is also an excellent place for spotting marine wildlife including dolphins and seals!
